Sarah Alderman, Director and Producer

At the time of BYPASSED’s conception, Sarah was a self-taught photographer, a full-time student of Anthropology at WCU, and a single mother of twins. The idea for a fair and balanced photo essay about Coatesville grew into a plan for a community voice project after Sarah worked on Aaron Huey’s National Geographic project on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

BYPASSED is her first film.

Ryan Beacher, Director of Photography and Lead Editor

An established filmmaker and wedding cinematographer, Ryan graduated from CASH in 2009. His connection to the community and unparalleled eye made him the perfect cinematographer for this work, his first documentary. Immediately after filming, Ryan was hired by an agency full-time, and he and his wife welcomed a son and moved to NJ. Despite many roles competing for his time, Ryan served as lead editor for the feature cut.

Sean Bramley, Music Supervisor and Assistant Producer

A CASH alum (‘09) and current student of Epidemiology at Columbia University, Sean spent his summer months working on the production team. Drawing on his years as a musician, he chose the music for the film and assisted with trimming interviews.

CJ Witherspoon, Assistant Producer and Vignettes Editor

Another CASH alum, CJ was a part of the QVC production team for a decade before leaving to establish his own production studio. While the feature cut was put on hold, CJ served as editor for the project’s vignette cuts, which are longer segments with each individual storyteller (and are available on our Vimeo page). The vignettes premiered in 2019.
